Sasidharan Taravath, MD
At Brain Matters Neurology, Dr. Sasidharan Taravath is dedicated to providing exceptional neurological care for children and adults at our locations in Jacksonville and Wilmington, North Carolina and we look forward to serving the surrounding communities. With more than five decades of medical experience and over three decades of specialized practice in neurology and sleep medicine, he is committed to helping patients achieve better neurological health and an improved quality of life.
Dr. Taravath specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of a wide range of neurological conditions, including epilepsy, headache and migraine disorders, movement disorders, and sleep-related neurological conditions. He also has extensive experience providing botulinum toxin (Botox) therapy for the treatment of spasticity and chronic migraines.
In addition to his neurology expertise, Dr. Taravath offers comprehensive sleep medicine services, evaluating and treating conditions such as insomnia, obstructive sleep apnea, narcolepsy, restless leg syndrome, circadian rhythm disorders, sleep-disordered breathing, sleepwalking, nightmares, snoring, enuresis, and tonsillar hypertrophy. His approach focuses on accurate diagnosis, personalized treatment plans, and ongoing support for patients and their families.
Known for his compassionate and patient-centered approach, Dr. Taravath combines evidence-based medicine with individualized care to help patients navigate complex neurological challenges with confidence and understanding.
Outside of the office, Dr. Taravath enjoys practicing yoga, meditation, and spending time on the golf course.

Julie Cummings, FNP-BC
Julie Cummings, FNP-BC, is a board certified Family Nurse Practitioner serving patients at Brain Matters Neurology. She brings more than a decade of clinical experience and provides compassionate, patient-centered care to individuals across the lifespan.
Julie has experience in primary care, urgent care, and community health, giving her a strong foundation in caring for patients with a variety of acute and chronic health conditions. She works alongside Dr. Sasidharan Taravath to support patients with comprehensive neurological care.
Julie is committed to listening carefully, educating patients and families, and developing individualized treatment plans that support long-term health and wellness. Her approach emphasizes compassion, collaboration, and evidence-based care for patients navigating complex neurological conditions.
Outside of clinical practice, Julie enjoys spending time with her husband and three children, visiting the beach, exploring the outdoors, and continuing opportunities for personal and professional growth.
